If you're planning a wedding in Singapore, you've probably seen three different services quoted — ROM, actual day, and pre-wedding — and wondered whether you need one, two, or all three. They're often bundled together in conversation, but they cover completely different moments, at different times, for different reasons.

This guide explains what each one is, who needs which, and how they fit together. Not sure where to start? Message us on WhatsApp with your plans and we'll point you in the right direction.

The short answer

Pre-Wedding Photography

  • When: Months before the wedding
  • What it is: A styled and planned pre-wedding photoshoot
  • Typical length: A photography session, depending on the number of outfits
  • Main purpose: Creating beautiful portraits for wedding invitations, displays and keepsakes
  • Starting price: From $800

ROM / Solemnisation Photography

  • When: On the day of your legal registration
  • What it is: Photography coverage of your ROM or solemnisation ceremony
  • Typical length: Around 1–3 hours
  • Main purpose: Capturing the key moments of your legal marriage ceremony
  • Starting price: From $526

Actual Day Wedding Photography

  • When: On your wedding day
  • What it is: Full-day documentary-style wedding photography
  • Typical length: Around **6–10 hours
  • Main purpose: Preserving the complete story of your wedding day, from key preparations and ceremonies to celebrations
  • Starting price: From $1,548

Most couples end up booking two or three of these, they're complements, not alternatives.

Pre-wedding: the planned shoot

A pre-wedding shoot happens weeks or months before the wedding. Nothing is being documented — it's staged. You choose the location, the outfits, and the mood, and the images become your invitations, your banquet montage, and your framed portraits.

You need this if: you want beautiful portraits of the two of you, and materials ready before the wedding. You can skip it if: you're happy with portraits taken on the day itself and don't need images in advance.

Our pre-wedding packages start from $800 (2 outfits) and $1,200 (3 outfits), with retouched images and a photo album included. We also arrange shoots in China through trusted partners. ROM / solemnisation: the legal moment

Your ROM is when your marriage becomes legal — the declarations, the ring exchange, and the signing of the register, usually witnessed by a small group. The ceremony itself is short, often 15 to 20 minutes, though coverage usually wraps around it to include portraits and any celebration.

You need this if: you're solemnising at all — and every married couple in Singapore does. Worth knowing: because the ceremony is small and fast, photography matters proportionally more. There are fewer moments, so each one counts.

Our ROM coverage starts from $526. See our ROM photography guide and our breakdown of how many hours you need for your ROM.

Actual day: the wedding itself

Actual day covers your wedding day as it happens — morning preparations, gatecrash, tea ceremony, and the evening banquet. It's the largest investment because it covers the most hours and the most moments, and none of them can be restaged.

You need this if: you're holding a wedding celebration beyond the registration itself. Worth knowing: the day usually runs from early morning to late evening with a midday gap, which is why coverage length matters.

Our wedding photography packages run from $1,548 (6 hours) to $2,488 (10 hours). See our actual day wedding photography guide and the Singapore wedding day timeline.

Common combinations

ROM only: you're registering without a larger celebration, or holding the banquet much later. Coverage of the ceremony is enough for now.

ROM + actual day: you solemnise on a separate date, then hold your wedding celebration later. Both are covered separately.

Pre-wedding + actual day: the most common pairing. Pre-wedding gives you portraits and materials in advance; actual day preserves the celebration.

All three: pre-wedding portraits, ROM ceremony coverage, and full wedding-day documentation. The complete picture.

How to decide

Work backwards from your plans:

  • Are you solemnising separately from your celebration? If yes, you'll want ROM coverage on that date and actual day coverage on the other.
  • Do you need photos before the wedding, for invitations, a banquet montage, or a display? If yes, add a pre-wedding shoot.
  • How much of the wedding day do you want covered? That decides your actual day package.

If you're only doing one thing right now, start with the date that's soonest — many couples book ROM coverage first, then plan pre-wedding and actual day as the wedding date firms up.

Frequently asked questions

  • What's the difference between ROM and actual day photography? ROM covers your legal solemnisation — a short ceremony, usually one to three hours of coverage. Actual day covers your wedding celebration itself, typically 6 to 10 hours across preparations, tea ceremony, and banquet.
  • Do I need a pre-wedding shoot if I'm booking actual day photography? Not necessarily, but most couples do both. Pre-wedding gives you styled portraits and materials in advance; actual day captures the celebration as it happens.
  • Can I book all three services together? Yes, and many couples do. Tell us your dates and plans and we'll put together coverage that fits.
  • Which should I book first? Usually whichever date comes soonest. If your ROM is months before the wedding, secure that coverage first.
