For most couples, a pre-wedding shoot is the first time they've been properly photographed together — and a little nervousness is completely normal. "What do we do with our hands?" is one of the most common questions we hear.

The good news: you don't need to know how to pose. Knowing roughly how the day flows is enough to relax into it, and relaxed is exactly when the best photos happen. Here's what to expect from start to finish. Planning your shoot? Message us on WhatsApp and we'll talk you through it.

Before the day: planning together

Your shoot starts well before the camera comes out. Beforehand, we'll agree on:

  • The concept and mood — romantic and soft, editorial and modern, clean and classic
  • Locations — how many, and in what order
  • Outfits — how many changes, and which look goes where
  • Timing — especially if you want golden-hour light

This is also when we sort any practical details, like gown or suit rental and alterations if you need them. The more we plan here, the less there is to think about on the day.

How long does a pre-wedding shoot take?

It depends on how many outfits and locations you've chosen. As a rough guide:

  • Two outfits (our Package 01) — a focused session with two distinct looks
  • Three outfits (our Package 02) — a fuller session with more variety and usually an extra location

Factor in travel between locations and time to change, and most couples find the day runs longer than the "shooting time" alone. It's worth keeping the day clear rather than squeezing the shoot between other plans.

On the day: how it flows

  1. Meeting up and settling in We start with a quick chat — not with instructions. The first few minutes are about getting comfortable, and honestly, the first few frames are usually just warm-ups.
  2. The first look We ease in with simple, natural setups: walking together, standing close, talking to each other. You'll be surprised how quickly the camera stops feeling like a camera.
  3. Guided posing (not stiff posing) You won't be left guessing. We give direction — where to stand, where to look, what to do with your hands — but the aim is to prompt real moments rather than freeze you into a pose. Laughing at how awkward it feels usually makes the best photo of the day.
  4. Outfit and location changes Between looks, there's time to change and travel. This is a natural breather — grab water, check hair and makeup, and reset.
  5. Golden hour and final frames If your session runs to late afternoon, we usually save the softest light for the portraits that matter most.

What to bring

  • Your outfits, pressed and ready, plus shoes for each look
  • Accessories — jewellery, veil, tie, anything that completes each look
  • Touch-up kit — powder, lipstick, blotting paper, a comb
  • Water and a snack — shoots take longer than people expect
  • Umbrella — sun or rain, it earns its place in Singapore
  • A small bag for phones, wallets, and anything that shouldn't be in frame

How to feel relaxed on camera

The single biggest factor in how your photos look isn't posing — it's how comfortable you feel. A few things that genuinely help:

  • Talk to each other, not the camera. The best candid frames come from real interaction.
  • Don't aim for perfect. Slightly imperfect, in-motion moments almost always beat rigid poses.
  • Eat beforehand. Hunger shows on faces.
  • Trust the process. The first ten minutes feel awkward for nearly everyone. It passes.

If you'd rather your gallery lean toward natural moments than formal portraits, say so early — it shapes how the whole session runs. Our guide on documentary vs posed photography explains the difference.

After the shoot

Once we're done, your images are edited and delivered — our final photos arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. From there you can use them for invitations, save-the-dates, banquet displays, and prints. Both our packages include a photo album, and additional prints or albums can be ordered.
